Good-Bye, March. See You Next Year

Happy Thursday!

Only one more Chem lab this year, and it's not today! Hence this getting up sooner in the day (not that you can tell). But, it would have even been sooner if not for Hapland 2 . It eats my soul. But I'm not going to try to find hints on the internet. Nope. I'm not.

Speaking of seeing things on the internet that you don't want to see!! Kingdom Hearts II is OUT for REAL and everyone has it but me! ;_; I do, but not physically. Which is the least-best way to play video games. I even beat Psychonauts in time to play it.

Speaking of things received in the mail! They sent me that pink bottom sheet of forms that prove they've been filled out, and it said I have an A in health last semester! Because my health teacher was crazy (for many reasons), and gave me a B, but then I complained and they gave me an A! Which is good, because I should have got extra credit for not eating for two days.

Speaking of eating! We went to Target yesterday, and we were waiting up by the front, and I looked over at the shelf next to me, and there were rolls of cookies (El Mexicano! Marias Cookies) for 44 cents each. And I was all, "Is this joking me??" But it wasn't, so I bought two, and there was no tax so it was just 88 cents and they were really really good.

Speaking of wonderful Mexican snacks bought for under a dollar! Well, that didn't happen in last week, but remember that Mexican bakery in Pamona? No? Well, next time you're in town, we're going there. You won't regret it.

Speaking of being in town! So, Carolyn came over for the weekend, right? That was crazy fun, although we really didn't do anything at all. Walked a bit. Had Burger King. (They finally found the toys, but they're just laying out in the kitchen) Watched a lot of anime. She helped me beat Psychonauts because there was this part that required skillful jumping under pressure, and if you've seen me play anything, you know that I'm absolutely not a skillful jumper, nor to I play well under pressure. I mean, so she did that part for me. Like five times, too, 'cause I kept dying after that. thanks

Ok, the train of thought reaches the station. Because MySpace doesn't easily come to mind after that, but I want to talk about it. First all, MySpace is pretty dumb. Second all, I have a MySpace. My Profile Thing. I'm going to put up writings in my blog there, and link to my Y! thing for the messages about them. So if you have a MySpace, come be my friend and subscribe to my blog! I'm going to start a group, too, but I have to wait a week. But I'm sure all of you know that, probably all MySpaced out. Junkies.

Nya. Week after next is my Easter Break, then another two weeks of school and I'm out! Isn't that exciting! Yeah, it is.

Cleaning House

Happy Thursday! Grace and peace be yours in abundance!

First, some orders of business:
1. D'you guys ever say Happy Thursday to people? I mean, in real life? I know I do. But I'm wondering how many of you take the initiative. Even here, most times I say it to people and they say it back. Occasionally, they'll "beat" me to it. BUT, I have yet to hear anybody say it to anyone other than myself, whether I said it first or they did. You know, this isn't something that is strictly related to me. Yes, I'm the Caretaker whose job it is to promote Thursday, but part of promoting it is getting people to say "Happy Thursday" on Thursday. So, are you?

2A. Comments. You guys can comment now. Right here. No email hassle. And I'll respond to comments, so you can come back during the week and actually see something new. It's like, community. With the exception of a few, you guys don't seem very interested. *narrows eyes*

2B. You don't have to be anonymous when leaving comments. Under Identity or whatever, there's Blogger, Other, and Anonymous. Blogger lets you sign in as a fellow blog-owner. Anonymous means that the comment is anonymous. Other lets you put a name and an email address.

3. I don't really have a third order of business, so I'll skip right to the poem.

Yes, a poem.

The Invincible, Incredible, Invaluable League of Flying Lemmings

It was a cold and windy night,
And one that I remember well.
The sky was otherworldly white
That darkened as the lemmings fell

Not "fell," of course, that wasn't so.
But what to call the awesome sight
Of lemmings floating down like snow?
In truth I almost died of fright.

In flurries now they formed platoons,
Preparing for the coming fight.
We watched them float there like balloons—
The hero lemmings that took flight.

For every villain feared their might;
They saw above not snow but hail.
And no one pitied them their plight.
The League of Lemmings would prevail.

"You criminal! You loathsome scum!"
The Lemming Captain would declare,
"Now drop that purse, that bag, that gun,
It's time for justice, and what's fair."

Our Lemming Friends cannot be stopped,
They are the harbingers of light.
Not even cliffs have bubbles popped:
They ran right off to soar like kites.

So children please do not go bad.
And heed these words you've heard tonight.
Be good! Don't make the Lemmings mad—
We cannot cure a Lemming's bite.

I actually wrote it on Friday, too. Shocking, huh? It's been at my writing journal, which I like to plug through these messages, which you know. I also solved the "hafta sign up" thing about that, too. Just make up a Yahoo ID and then tell you all the name and password. And I was going to make one, and tell you all it here today, but for some reason my browser won't accept the cookies that Yahoo needs to send it in order to do so. Even though I set it to accept EVERYTHING. So, if someone could go to Yahoo and register Guest McGuesterson with the ID of mcguesterson and password of stories, then you all can read things like the Lemmings poem the day they're written!

So, I hafta clean my room because Carolyn's coming to visit for all weekend! I have much work to do, in that regard. ^^;;;;

But also, this weekend is my last weekend that I get to live in the same city as my bro and his cool-cool family. ;_; Gonna miss you guys!!!

Oh, and I bet you were all surprised to get an email last week. Heh, I dunno what the blog's problem was. Hopefully we won't have to suffer through a repeat performance, hm?

Mm, speaking of the blog, now that it's openly on the net and accessible by all who may care, you're all free to plug the blog itself. Heee for plugs and whatnot. Increase viewership, spread the love of Thursdays, become a billionaire. See, there's incentive for ya. Because it's all very logical. ooOOooh, though, did you know that a process will always be spontaneous when energy decreases and randomness increases? It's true, I learned it in school.

The Perfect After-Dinner Post

Or, even, a Post-Dinner Post.

Oh dear. Some things are funny, and some things are still funny one hour and one half later, and you just don't know why. (Brianna got out of class one hour and one half early, and she just kept saying it, and that she got out 90 minutes early, etc. Just now she's off to the shower, wearing one and one half of her flip-flops, and she said she'd go wearing one of her clothes, and come back wearing one half of her clothes, which equals one hour and one half of her clothes, and that's when I started crying and not being able to breathe. Still, though, she said that if she's gone for one hour and one half, then to send a search party. One search party and one half, I ask? One hour and one half search party, she says. And that's why I didn't start writing this for a long time after writing the title and the first line.)

Happy Thursday!

I hope everyone had a nice Purim and Pi Day and a full moon (all on the same day 0o) and a Happy St. Patrick's day tomorrow.

My birthweekend was quite fun! I ate a boatload of sugar! But, oh, how it was good. My fam-fam came down and showered me with presents (and sugar--although, literally=ew). Yeah. Thanks, guys! Quite useful, them 'tronix. ^^!

I'd imagined up some fun things to write about this week, but I've forgotten them. Happens all the time. Seems like the last few weeks I haven't been quite into the whole Let's Write About Thursday! mood. So what's something fun and interesting that you guys want to read about, and then hopefully comment on?

...The only thing that comes to mind is lemmings. I don't know anything about lemmings. I know that they don't run off cliffs--but I knew that they didn't before I thought I knew that I did. I mean, apparently, it was a common-known fact that lemmings run in herds off of cliffs, but the first I heard of it was that the footage of such a suicidal stampede had been staged. I think, that also lemmings turn white in winter. Like snowshoe hares. I am not an expert on lemmings.

OH, Venturans, pick up a copy of everyone's favorite county magazine, VCReporter! I got honorable mention! Or so I've been told. In case you never get around to it:

Feel His Wrath

No one ever thought he was serious when he threatened to use the whale. They just chuckled like they always did. "Oh, Jim!" they sighed, enjoying his silly little joke, like they always did. They patted him amiably (if a little pityingly) on the back and went on their merry way, not even looking back. Just like they always did. He glared after them and plotted sweet, sweet revenge.

When the whale finally did come flaming down out of the sky like an opera-bellowing, krill-eating, forest-fire-starting meteor, they pretty much unanimously believed him. It was a little late for that, though.
That is just one of my many 101-word long stories that I entered into their contest, and it was the best of the bunch, they thought. Not good enough, not good enough to win $50 Barnes & Noble. *cry* Jerks. All of them.
It's just that lemmings for some reason reminded me completely of flying whales, so that was the obvious next step. I shall have to write a poem about flying lemmings. Then they could be superheroes, the flying fire whale, the great flying penguin, and the league of flying lemmings. Wouldn't that just be wonderful? I think so.

Wear green tomorrow. It's called peer pressure. Oh geex, I gotta do a lotta stuff to get ready for 'morrow, so I'm off. Next week perhaps this will come a little earlier, yeah? ^^
Till then--

My Last Thursday

as an 18-year-old. It was a great year, it really was. Not that I did anything different--I didn't buy cigarettes, I didn't vote, I didn't pay rent. I went off to college, at least. I drove a little. Let's see, in another two years I can buy liquor, but let's bet that it'll be probably five years (after that) before I do. Y'know what I mean.

Last year I had a Thursday Birthday. And this aforementioned 21 is my Blackjack Birthday, and it will also fall on a Blackjack Date (3/10/08). Regretfully, since last year was a Thursday Birthday, there's no hope of my Blackjack Birthday being on a Blackjack Thursday.

Guys, I'm tired and I'm really not feeling this Thursday message thing. ...

What can I do to make us interested in what I have to say? What do I have to say?

Hmm, I have absolutely nothing interesting to say today. Ok, I got it. Hold on to your seats.

How to Make Japan #2

Bread Flour - 350g (2.55 cups)
Butter - 21 g (1.48 tbsp)
Sugar - 21g (1.06 tbsp)
Milk - 33cc (1.11 fl oz)
Water - 180cc (6.08 fl oz)
Dry Yeast - 5g (1.25 tsp)
Salt - 6.5g (1.07 tsp)

Mix flour, sugar, salt, yeast dissolved in water, water, and milk. Then add butter. Knead. When it no longer feels sticky, shape it so that it's round. Leave it in a warm place for an hour. Get rid of gas by dropping it from a height of 50cm (about 20 inches) (don't punch it). Leave it for another hour. Then put it in the rice cooker (yes, rice cooker) and turn it on--bake for an hour. Then turn it over and cook it again (another hour). Turn it over again and cook it again. So it's cooked three times total, for three hours total.

Pictures and instructions in Japanese: http://www.sonymusic.co.jp/Animation/yakitate/special/japan2.html

Some of you may have had to listen to me smatter on about "the bread show!!", which is an anime called Yakitate!! Japan! It's about this kid with "solar hands" (hands that are just warmer than normal hands), who wants to create the first Japanese bread. He calls it "Japan" because Pan is the loan word for bread. So it's a pun. So he's spent like ten years now making Japan, from #1 to #, what, 61, I guess I last saw. This is the recipe shown in episode 28, for Japan #2 that he made when he was six, with his rice maker.

Now you can make fresh bread in YOUR rice maker!! If you can measure in metric, I suggest you do it, because I don't know how accurate my conversions are. I used an online "gourmet" converter thingie, but I don't entirely trust it. Next time I go home, I'm totally trying this out.

You can watch Yakitate!! for free at a low-ish quality here: http://www.keiichianimeforever.com/anime/onlineanime/series.html/en/yakitatejapan . It's got up to ep 22, so if you want more than that, you can come to me ^_~ It's a really really really really funny show, and I highly recommend it. Also, you learn about baking! It's a great experience all around.

Happy Thursday!!

The Longest Week Evar

Happy Thursday, one and all! Since it can't be the subject line anymore, I suppose I'll have to start off each week by actually saying it. Gosh. What an inconvenience. No, I'm joking.

This was totally a very long week. Normally, it's like, wow, I'm writing Thursday again?? So soon?? But today I'm thinking, what, this is the first Blog!Thursday I've ever written? Didn't I do that switchy thing soo long ago? But yes, this is the first official blog-only Thursday announcement in the history of all the world.

And really, there couldn't be a better day for it, because today is my lucky day of all year. And this year it's on a Thursday, too? That's just....Impeccable. So, I suppose, we all should be saying "Happy Lucky Thursday!" today. "Happy Commencement Thursday!" is also acceptable.

Backing up a bit, last night was certainly the longest night of the week. Yesterday being Ash Wednesday, we got a "Common Day of Learning" (read: inservice day) with no school. Still chapel and a bunch of optional (for some) seminar things, but mostly no school. It was like Saturday in the middle of the week. I helped friends film a movie for some history class ("I got the black lung because of the Industrial Revolution!!"), and read a lot of manga, and watched movies and went to bed at two. Which was ok, 'cause on Tuesday/Thursday I get to wake up at ten.

But that eight hours sleep was very long.

Very busy dreams, 'cause I was trying to be both sides of a detective story (shouldn't have read 17 chapters of Death Note ~_~) and N was on to me, but I had to get the notebook back, and it was just a mess. And then I woke up at 7-ish from Brianna's alarm, and freaked out: "What day is it???" Because I needed to know why my alarm was off (still don't know), and whether I had to get up right away or if I really did have another three hours to sleep. So Brianna said, "It's Thursday." And I thought, ah, yes, of course, and calmed down and went back to sleep.

But I don't think she was quite away, either, because she kept repeating, "It's 7 o'clock, Thursday morning...7 o'clock..." I would have been more worried if I hadn't been asleep.

And then I had more busy dreams where I was about to capture the bad guy, but I had to be facing the one way to be the good guy, and facing the other to be the bad guy, and then my alarm went off for real and that was the startling end of the investigation.

Actually, there I went back to sleep for like 16 minutes, but the only exciting part about that was when I woke back up again out of a dead sleep.

I need to change my calendar, because March is a cute cute picture of a bobcat. Maybe it is a lynx.

Also, I gave up chocolate for Lent (accountability buddy with someone whose idea it was), but then I remembered that my birthday is this month, so I'm happy I already asked for a strawberry cake. Also, Laura gave me Batman: the Movie for my birthday, because she'd bought it for a gift exchange 'round Christmas time and forgot to give it away. ^^

Well, yes, I'll leave the rest of the week up to you, then.
